Aligning policy, technology, partnerships and investment to advance the Gulf Coast's industrial decarbonization
In partnership with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance and the Baton Rouge Area Carbon Reduction Alliance, Energy Conference Network is proud to launch the Gulf Coast Industrial Decarbonization Forum, to be held in Baton Rouge on May 14-15, 2024.
This inaugural conference and exhibition will focus on:
- Strategies and technologies that industry can implement to secure significant investment on the State and Federal levels
- Regional opportunities to develop and export clean fuel and technology solutions
- How Government, Industry, Educational Institutions, not for profits and solution providers can collaborate to effect real action and outcomes.
While best known for being the global energy capital, the Gulf Coast also has a highly successful manufacturing footprint and a transportation/logistics hub, a hotbed of new technology and home to some of the world's most forward-thinking and innovative organizations.
Louisiana's single largest energy consumer, industry (comprising nearly two-thirds of all end uses compared to the country as a whole, where industry comprises one-third of all end uses), is poised to take advantage of greener fuel and CCUS incentives to build on an already world-beating exporting sector..
The challenge is great; the opportunity is greater.

Why Baton Rouge?
- Since 2020, $20 billion of publicly announced projects are considering investment in the Baton Rouge Area, including sustainable investments such as renewable fuels, green and blue hydrogen, CCUS, solar power and circular plastics
- Louisiana’s Climate Task Force Plan shows that the State had net greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 216 million metric tons annually in 2021, with 66% of those emissions coming from the industrial sector which presents a significant investment opportunity for local business. . The Carbon Capture Coalition, a national, nonpartisan collaboration of more than 100 companies, unions, conservation, and environmental policy organizations, estimates Louisiana could create up to 4,900 project jobs annually over a 15-year period and 2,500 permanent jobs while capturing 40 million metric tons CO2 annually. The region's concentration of industry, pipeline infrastructure, industrial workforce, established CCUS regulatory environment, and suitable geology makes the Capital Region one of the most advantageous regions in the world to achieve net-zero emissions and contribute to Governor Edwards' Climate Task Force Plan to reduce Louisiana's carbon footprint while creating economic growth.
